Olivia Kyarimpa Matovu

Olivia Kyarimpa Matovu is a Partner in the firm's Dispute Resolution practice, based in Uganda. She has deep experience in litigation and arbitration, particularly disputes involving regulated sectors, state-owned agencies, infrastructure projects, and high-stakes commercial and tax controversies.

She has acted as counsel in international arbitrations under UNCITRAL Rules, including a USD 1.257 million consultancy dispute for UETCL, and defended a Chinese state-owned construction company in an UNCITRAL arbitration interim measures application. She has also executed litigation and negotiation strategy for UNOC cross-border litigation in Kenya, and served as local counsel in Crane Bank shareholders v dfcu before the London High Court. She is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (MCIArb), Honorary Treasurer of CIArb Uganda Chapter, and Head of Training & Accreditation at ICAMEK.

Olivia holds an LLM in International Dispute Resolution from Queen Mary University of London (2022), a PGD in Legal Practice from the Law Development Centre (2006), and an LLB (Hons) from Makerere University (2004). She also serves as a Professional Advisor and Lecturer at the Law Development Centre.
