Martin Erone

Martin Erone is a Partner at Kampala Associated Advocates (KAA), specialising in Energy Law, infrastructure development, public‑private partnerships, aviation law, and mining and minerals. He advises on power sector transactions, project financing, renewable energy development, and regulatory compliance, with deep expertise in the East African energy space.

Prior to joining KAA, he served as Company Secretary and Manager of Corporate Services at Uganda Electricity Transmission Company (UETCL) for over 14 years. He participated in the negotiation of funding documents for the Karuma (600 MW) and Isimba (183 MW) power dams, the refinancing of the Bujagali Hydro Electric Plant, and the development of over 18 renewable energy projects under the GETFiT programme. He also oversaw the procurement of over 10 transmission line and substation EPC contracts worth over USD 650 million, and negotiated regional power sales agreements with Kenya, Rwanda, Congo, Tanzania, and South Sudan.

Martin holds an Master of Laws (LL.M) from the University of Liverpool, England, a Post Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the Law Development Centre, and an LL.B from Makerere University. He is a member of the Uganda Law Society, the East African Law Society, and the International Bar Association.
