Alexander Kibandama

Alexander Kibandama is a Partner in the Energy, Natural Resources and Infrastructure practice with over 21 years of experience advising on key mandates in the energy, infrastructure and oil and gas sectors in Uganda. His primary practice area is Energy Law, and he is widely respected as an authority on energy law in Uganda.

He has been involved in major acquisitions and infrastructure projects in Uganda, as well as acquisition regimes for land in Kenya, Tanzania and Ghana.

He has undertaken legal due diligence and legal audits of a wide range of companies, including telecommunications companies and electricity transmission and distribution companies. He has been involved in developing the legal regimes for electronic commerce and climate change in Uganda and is published in key areas of law.

He is recognised as a leading or recommended lawyer by IFLR1000 as a Rising Star Partner (2024) and in the IFLR1000 Financial and Corporate Guide as a Rising Star (2016, 2017, 2018, 2020, Uganda), and by Legal 500 EMEA (2018).

He holds a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) from Makerere University and a Post Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the Law Development Centre.
