Joseph Matsiko

Joseph Matsiko is the Managing Partner at Kampala Associated Advocates (KAA), where he jointly heads the Litigation Department. He is a distinguished legal practitioner specialising in Dispute Resolution, with particular expertise in commercial litigation, international arbitration, and high‑profile constitutional and regulatory disputes.

He has represented the Electoral Commission and the President of Uganda in Supreme Court petitions challenging presidential elections, and has acted as lead counsel for Uganda's leading telecom operator since 2007, including winning a landmark Supreme Court extraterritorial interconnection dispute worth millions of dollars. He successfully represented a Ugandan entity in a 40 million Euro international commercial arbitration in Paris and London, and secured a USD 16.4 million award for a mining investor in Uganda. He has also represented the Ugandan communications regulator in a USD 250 million dispute involving broadcasting and licensing issues, and is currently involved in a USD 100 million complex banking and regulatory dispute at the Court of Appeal. He has worked with leading UK firms including Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, Fieldfisher LLP, and Edwin Coe Solicitors.

Joseph holds an LL.B (Hons) from Makerere University and a Post Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the Law Development Centre. He previously served as Director of Civil Litigation at the Attorney General's Chambers for four years. He has completed advanced training in mediation, arbitration, and international commercial transactions at the International Law Institute in Washington D.C. He is a member of the Uganda Law Society and the East African Law Society.
