Julius Kyamanywa

Julius Kyamanywa is an Associate Partner at Dentons in Uganda, specialising in dispute resolution, banking and finance litigation, and regulatory compliance. With over 15 years of experience, he has a unique blend of expertise as in‑house bank counsel and in private practice, appearing in courts of law and tribunals across commercial, constitutional, criminal, land, and family matters.

Julius has managed a bank litigation portfolio, reviewed contractual templates for international vendors and cross‑border funding agreements, and advised on anti‑money laundering, data protection, and operational risk compliance. He spearheaded a project to revamp credit facility templates in line with the Loan Market Association Handbook and conducted a forensic credit audit of one of the largest commercial banks in Uganda on instruction by the Central Bank of Uganda, culminating in the statutory management and liquidation of that bank. He has also participated in the complex liquidation of one of the largest East African supermarket chains, litigated a novel constitutional matter before the Supreme Court, and acted in complex land disputes and copyright infringement cases. He has extensive experience in conveyancing and mortgage registration, as well as intellectual property registration and dispute resolution.

Julius holds an LL.B from Makerere University and a Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the Law Development Centre, Kampala. He is a member of the Uganda Law Society and the East Africa Law Society.
