Moses J. Adriko, SC

Moses Jurua Adriko, SC is a Managing Partner and Co‑Head of the Disputes Resolution team, with over 20 years of experience specialising in commercial litigation, arbitration, and dispute resolution. He is a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and Wales, a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (FCIArb), and a certified adjudicator accredited by the Kuala Lumpur Regional Centre for Arbitration. He is also on the List of Counsel of the International Criminal Court at The Hague.

He has acted as arbitrator in UNCITRAL tribunals on various commercial disputes, and as a panel member of the Public Procurement and Disposal of Public Assets Appeals Tribunal on complex multi‑million‑dollar procurement disputes. He successfully defended an international construction company against a US$ 1 million claim by a subcontractor in ICC arbitration proceedings, and has acted for Uganda Breweries Limited in a complex tax dispute with the Uganda Revenue Authority involving the East African Community Customs Management Act. He also acted for Diageo in obtaining an order against infringement of the Johnnie Walker Black Label brand, and successfully recovered US$ 2 million in compensation on behalf of a client whose property was expropriated.

He holds an LL.B (Hons) from the University of East Anglia, completed the Legal Practice Course at the College of Law, Guildford, Surrey, England, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the Law Development Centre, Uganda. He is a member of the Uganda Law Society, the East African Law Society, and has served as President of the Uganda Law Society, Chair of the African Forum of the International Bar Association, and as a Council Member of the IBA Human Rights Institute. He is a past Non‑Executive Director of Standard Chartered Bank (U) Limited and current Chairman of Sanlam General Insurance (U) Limited.
