Maureen Mudong

Maureen Mudong is a Legal Associate in the Banking and Finance Team with experience in corporate and commercial law, banking and finance, commercial arbitration, and litigation. She advises local and international clients on financing transactions, compliance matters, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate governance across diverse sectors including finance, manufacturing, power, telecommunications, trade, real estate, and non‑governmental organisations.

She has advised an international lender on the proposed refinancing of a vendor loan and financing of a CAPEX investment of approximately EUR 16,500,000, advised the Abacus Group of Companies on a comprehensive regulatory compliance universe, and conducted a comprehensive asset verification for Umeme Limited of all its land and properties in Uganda. She has also advised Microsoft Corporation on the Ugandan law enforceability and risk profile of a proposed Carbon Removal Unit purchase structure, and advised the Walt Disney Company on the legal and regulatory implications of the proposed rollout of Disney+ in Uganda. She has been part of a team that conducted a red‑flag due diligence on behalf of a consortium of financiers in connection with a proposed investment of over USD 80 million in a group of energy companies, and has successfully represented I&M Bank in a commercial dispute at the Praxis Conflict Centre. She regularly prepares and registers securities for top commercial banks in Uganda and Kenya.

She holds an LL.B (Hons) from Makerere University and a Post Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the Law Development Centre, Kampala. She is an Advocate of the High Court of Uganda and a member of the Uganda Law Society and the East African Law Society.
