Pheonah Nankunda

Pheonah Nankunda is a Senior Associate | Transactions & Advisory at K&K Advocates and a leading member of the firm’s banking and finance practice, focusing on Banking and Finance Law. She holds a Master of Laws in International Banking and Finance Law from University College London.

Pheonah has extensive experience advising domestic and international clients on a broad spectrum of financing transactions. Her practice encompasses the structuring and documentation of complex loan facilities, syndicated lending, asset finance, and real estate finance. She has particular strength in securitisation and structured finance, advising on multi-party transactions involving the transfer, perfection, and enforcement of security interests across several sectors.

She has also advised on the development, financing, and procurement of large-scale projects in the energy, transport, aviation, and industrial sectors, and has acted as counsel on concession agreements and public-private partnership arrangements, working with government entities, private sponsors, and lenders on the structuring of project contracts and the negotiation of key commercial terms.

Pheonah heads the Corporate Desk at the firm, advising on company formation and reorganisation, corporate governance, licensing, compliance, and corporate finance, and has served on due diligence and transaction teams across major cross-border transactions. Her areas of expertise include banking and finance, energy and infrastructure projects, corporate and commercial transactions, property law and conveyancing, mergers and acquisitions, and intellectual property. She holds an LLB (Hons) from Uganda Christian University, a Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the Law Development Centre, and an LLM in International Banking and Finance Law from University College London, and is a Certified Insolvency Practitioner. She is a member of the Uganda Law Society and the East African Law Society.
