Collins Tumukunde

Collins Tumukunde is an Associate at KATS. His primary practice area is Corporate Law. He received his LLB with honours from Makerere University in 2021, having been admitted for the course on a government scholarship. He completed his Post Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice in 2022 and joined the firm as a junior associate after his clerkship.

His areas of specialty are corporate and commercial law, banking and finance, mergers and acquisitions, insurance, intellectual property, insolvency and bankruptcy, property and real estate, technology, and litigation.

His sample transactions include being part of the KATS team that advised I&M Capital on licences under the Collective Investment regulatory framework required to permit it to market its products in Uganda, specifically its USD fund product; being part of the KATS team that advised the Bank of Uganda on its legal audit of Mercantile Credit Bank; and being part of the KATS team that advises DFCU Uganda Limited on security documentation and perfection of securities.

He was also part of the KATS team that conducted a due diligence on behalf of Equity Bank Uganda in respect of the consolidation of banking facilities of UGX 70,401,327,000 and an offer of a banking facility of UGX 6,500,000 extended to Master Grain Milling Limited; part of the KATS team that conducted a vendor due diligence report on behalf of Wananchi Group Holdings Limited; and part of the team that advised Equity Bank Limited on its administrative receivership of Apex Impex Limited.
