Miriam O. Atim

Miriam O. Atim is an Associate in the Corporate Advisory team at MMAKS Advocates, specialising in corporate law, with a focus on mergers and acquisitions, technology transactions, corporate governance, privacy, and regulatory compliance. She has six years of experience advising clients across sectors including technology, media, financial services, and non‑profit organisations on business structuring, commercial transactions, regulatory advisory, and insolvency matters.

She has advised on the disposal of a leading financial institution's business in Uganda, the acquisition of a Cambridge accredited international school, and the acquisition of a leading agro‑processing company. She advised Sanlam Limited on its proposed joint venture with the Allianz group, and on the amalgamation of SN Power entities in Uganda. In the technology space, she advised Terra Payment Services on obtaining a payments system operator license, Google Inc. on its investment in SafeBoda, The Walt Disney Company on the launch of Disney+ in Uganda, Airbnb on its rollout in Uganda, and Instagram on the launch of its Reels product. She has also advised on privacy compliance matters for Standard Chartered Bank Uganda and regularly advises on corporate governance, NGO registration, and insolvency processes.

Miriam holds an LL.M in Law, Technology and Entrepreneurship from Cornell University, USA, an LL.B (Hons) from Makerere University, and a Post Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the Law Development Centre, Uganda. She is an Advocate of the High Court of Uganda and a member of the Uganda Law Society and the East African Law Society.
