Oscar Kambona

Oscar Kambona is a Senior Partner at Kampala Associated Advocates (KAA) and a renowned tax lawyer, specialising in Tax Law, with particular expertise in tax litigation, tax advisory, and dispute resolution. He has extensive experience representing clients in high‑value tax disputes before the Tax Appeal Tribunal, Commercial Court, and Court of Appeal of Uganda.

He has successfully represented Tullow Uganda Operations Pty Limited in a USD 490 million tax dispute against the Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) before the Commercial Court, involving capital gains tax arising from disposal of interest in oil blocks, and continues to advise companies in the oil and gas sector on taxation matters. He has also handled a UGX 330 billion tax dispute between MTN and URA regarding mobile money transactions, and represented UMEME Ltd in a USD 33.8 million dispute concerning taxability of assets under a concession agreement. He has also advised Standard Chartered Bank, National Social Security Fund, Eskom Uganda Ltd, and Bank of Uganda on various tax matters.

Oscar holds an LL.M in Tax from Makerere University, a Post Graduate Diploma in Law from the Law Development Centre, and an LL.B from Makerere University. He was a Principal Lecturer in Revenue Law and Taxation at the Law Development Centre for over 15 years, and has lectured Fiscal Law at the National University of Rwanda. He has served as legal advisor to the Commissioner General of the Uganda Revenue Authority (2002‑2003) and as a Consultant at the Tax Appeals Tribunal. He is a member of the Uganda Law Society and the East African Law Society.
