Hon. Elly Karuhanga

Hon. Elly Karuhanga is a Senior Partner and one of the Founding Partners of Kampala Associated Advocates, with over 40 years of experience specialising in Oil and Gas Law. He has extensive expertise in the oil and gas, mining, energy, arbitration, and corporate law sectors. He advises clients on complex commercial transactions, energy and natural resources projects, arbitration, and corporate governance matters.

He is the Founding President and Chairman of the Uganda Centre for Arbitration and Alternative Dispute Resolution (CADER) since 1998, and has served as Chairman of the Uganda Chamber of Mines & Petroleum since 2008, an organisation with over 200 member companies in the mining and petroleum sectors. He currently serves as Chairman of the Private Sector Foundation of Uganda. He has acted as legal counsel for major clients including MTN Uganda Limited, Standard Chartered Bank Uganda Limited, National Water and Sewerage Corporation, Total E&P, Eskom (Uganda and Ghana), Pepsi Cola and Coca Cola companies, and Apollo Hotels Corporation (Sheraton Hotel Kampala), among others. He also served as Honorary Consul General of the Republic of Seychelles to Uganda since 2005.

He holds an LL.B (Hons) from Makerere University and a Post Graduate Diploma in Law from the Law Development Centre. He is a member of the Uganda Law Society and the East African Law Society. He has served on the boards of numerous companies, including as Chairman of British American Tobacco Uganda, DFCU Limited, and Minet Uganda.
