Augustine Obilil Idoot

Augustine Obilil Idoot is a Partner at Kampala Associated Advocates (KAA) and heads the firm's Intellectual Property, Employment Law, and Telecommunications, Media and Technology (TMT) practice teams. He specialises in Telecommunications Law, technology law, intellectual property, employment and labour law, and dispute resolution, advising major players in Uganda's communications and technology sectors.

He has led the team that consulted on a gap analysis study of Uganda's ICT laws in 2019, advised on the formation of the current telecommunications licensing framework, and has represented leading communications sector clients in numerous industry‑groundbreaking litigation and transactions. He has also presided over technology innovation competitions as a judge. In his management role at KAA, he spearheaded the firm's digital transformation, moving from paper‑based to digitalised operations, and has successfully completed Third Party Security Assessments for clients regulated under the Financial Institutions Act. He serves as company secretary for Ayo Uganda Limited, Jumo World Holdings Uganda Limited, Afriland First Bank Uganda, and Wood Group PSN Uganda Limited, advising on corporate governance, strategy, and board evaluations.

Augustine holds an LL.M in ICT and Communications Law from the University of Oslo, Norway, a Post Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the Law Development Centre, and an LL.B from Makerere University, where he graduated in the top 3 of his class. He is a member of the Uganda Law Society, the East African Law Society, the International Bar Association, and is an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.
