Alex Samson Ntale

Alex Samson Ntale is a Principal Associate at ALN Uganda | MMAKS Advocates, specialising in commercial litigation, employment law, and intellectual property disputes. He handles litigation matters arising out of commercial disputes, with a particular focus on employment law, tax disputes, and intellectual property enforcement. He routinely advises on employee restructurings, terminations, and dismissals, and represents clients before the Industrial Court and Court of Appeal of Uganda.

He has acted for the Bank of Uganda in a suit involving termination of employees seeking compensation, and successfully defended Oryx Oil Uganda Limited against an employment claim of UGX 18,588,145,180 for alleged unlawful termination. He has acted for Absa Bank Uganda, Stanbic Bank Uganda, Uganda National Bureau of Standards, and Uganda Breweries Limited in defending actions of unlawful termination before the Industrial Court. He has also acted for Intel Corporation in trademark infringement proceedings, Nokia Corporation against the Uganda Registration Services Bureau, and 12 commercial banks in a copyright infringement suit concerning agent-assisted financial services. He has advised Uganda Breweries Limited on a complex tax dispute with the Uganda Revenue Authority and acted as junior counsel in an action against Absa Bank Uganda concerning a USD 34,730,000 facility. He has represented 30 commercial banks in a constitutional petition challenging sections of the Tax Procedures Code Act.

He holds an LL.B (Hons) from Makerere University and a Post Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the Law Development Centre, Uganda. He is an Advocate of the High Court of Uganda, a member of the Uganda Law Society and the East African Law Society, and the Uganda Representative to the Employment Law Alliance. He also serves on the Industrial Court (Uganda) Users Committee.
